The Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize takes pride of place in this issue, featuring the winners of the four categories – photography, sculpture, wall art and written work. We continue our trawl through the FoR’s archives with press cuttings and photographs from the 1990s, illustrating the fight to get recreational vehicles banned from the Ridgeway and other byways. Archaeologist David Miles visited Uffington to talk about ‘Caring for the White Horse. 3000 years of a British icon.’ We look at recent work of present day carers – members of the Ridgeway and Thames Trail Volunteers. All this and more, including a sprinkling of humour.
