This year is the 40th anniversary of the Friends of the Ridgeway. Using press cuttings we look at the efforts of the first 10 years to get non-essential motor vehicles banned from the National Trail. We highlight your time-limited opportunity to influence the government to introduce further legislation to prohibit non-essential motor vehicles from all of the Ridgeway all year round. Other topics include an overview of the Great Chalk Way, progress on the Ridgeway Riding Route in the Chilterns, participating in the Race to the Stones, increasing plant and insect variety on the downs flanking the Ridgeway, the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize (April) and notice of the FoR’s Annual General Meeting (3rd April).
