There are a series of circular walks available from the National Trails website: https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ridgeway/additional-walks
A small selection of the circular walks included are shown below (links open up PDF files on the National Trails website)
Devil’s Punchbowl and Segsbury Camp Circular Walk
White Horse Hill Circular Walk
Compton Circular Walk
Walked The Ridgeway from Mongewell Park to Watlington. When we reached the section over Nuffield Common Golf course there are no visible waymark posts as described in the handbook to make it safe to walk over the golf course
Also Fairway Cottage A housing development in place . Can you check to see if a path will remain for the Ridgeway walk when this development is completed.
Thank you for your comments and query.
We are aware of the waymarks across the Nuffield Common Golf Course; the last time I walked across the course the path was reasonably obvious but the notices to look out for flying golf balls less reassuring.
The Friends of the Ridgeway did object to the planning permission for Fairway Cottage, in particular in the request to re-route the Ridgeway. Whilst the request to re-route the Ridgeway was withdrawn, planning permission for the development was granted. Hence the path will continue to go across the garden of the second cottage, between the house and the garage. We do not know if the purchases of the house are aware of having a National Trail going so close to their house!
Sadly none of the links to circular walks work any more and The National Trails website doesn’t help much either.
Dear Nicky
Thank you for your feedback. I have updated the links to the National Trails website where I can still find the particular walk, and have deleted those links where I can no longer find the relevant walk – please note that we have no control over what is on the National Trails website.
